A wonder of the world (6 down one to go)

Chichen Itza is only a few hours drive from our house and I couldn't pass up the opportunity to visit one if the seven wonders of the world. (After this visit I only have one more to go.) the whole group loaded up and headed inland.

On the Spring and Autumn equinoxes, in the late afternoon, the northwest corner of the pyramid casts a series of triangular shadows against the western balustrade on the north side that evokes the appearance of a serpent wriggling down the staircase. Some have suggested the effect was an intentional design by the Maya builders to represent the feathered-serpent god Kukulcan.

I feel like a celebrity

For Dad's 60th birthday, we rented a house in Mexico for the whole family. You never really know how that kind of thing will turn out. We followed a bumpy dirt road though the jungle to a ornate iron gate. At first, we could find no one to let us in, so of course, grant snaked through the gate like James Bond. As Myner and Claudia, our hosts for the week, quickly came out and introduced us to the incredible house our uncertainties began to evaporate.

Palm trees, flowers and tropical birds everywhere. A gorgeous pool and back yard with the beach 20 steps away and hammocks hanging under a thatch hut. Flowers and fruit filled the house.

Later that night Chef Antonio fixed us the best fajitas I have ever had with fresh guacamole and salsa. We dined al fresco as the sunset and a mariachi band played next door.

All of this in the first day. Do I have to come home?
